Charlie and the turkey had something in common - They were the same size (almost)

Several trips to the grocery store were made for Thanksgiving because I'm clueless on how to go about grocery shopping with a newborn.

I hope he finds me this entertaining when he's 16

Kooky Aunt Jessi (she coined the name for herself) met Charlie for the first time

leather couch + cold apartment means bundling up the baby, placing him on your chest and use him as your heater.

Someone has figured out how to hit and grab at the hanging toys

Prep Step #1: Measure out the supplemental formula & water for the night time feedings.

Prep Step #2: Changing station stacked w/diapers and wipes.
(This is perfect when it's just you taking the night shift)

Prep Step #3: Extra sleeper and swaddle bag (just in case there's an accident in the night)

Prep Step #4: Hand sanitizer, paci, & burp cloth

Not pictured: lunching at Cafe Milan & watching the Giants/Eagles game :)

It's a Charlie Graham!

Charlie Graham Macdonald entered the world on October 29, 2011. After a week in the hospital, we were finally able to bring him home this past Saturday. This is why I've been MIA.  We're still learning to adjust to life with a newborn. It was wonderful having Charlie's paternal grandparents in town but they left yesterday. Oma (my mom) arrives on Wednesday to help out. I'm hoping to return to a normal posting pattern soon. As for right now, I'm sucking up every moment I have with this little guy. Mommyhood is just so yummy, except for the leaky breasts.

She's Crafty: Birthday Cards & Fabric Envelopes

Expecting a baby + early maternity leave = a very tight budget.

Two of my friend's birthdays were in the same week and I wanted to do something special for them. Thankfully I have lots of card stock, scrapbooking paper and fabric (leftover from a quilting project in 2004 that never got started). The key to the fabric envelopes is measuring the fabric to the size of an envelope and lightly tracing the letters of their names out before stitching. After all the sewing & stitching was done, I used my cherry blossom stamp and stamped the fabric.

I like the idea of the fabric and personalized envelope because it can be reused for so many things (make-up, art supplies, etc.). I'm sure if I put some sequins on it and made it with some satin fabric it could be used as an evening bag - Just kidding :)
