Peek... Aren't you Curious

The World Is Yours t-shirt looks cute paired up with Peek's "Happy Pant". The t-shirt also has a graphic of the earth on the back.
Baby Peace Sign Shirt w/Peek's "Garment Dyed Pant"

This is one of my favorite little outfits I put together. I love the orange plaid shirt paired with the Yosemite shirt and the green pant. This outfit would also look really adorable with a pair of skinny jeans! On the back of the Yosemite shirt it says "Go Climb a Rock".

Once upon a time I used to for a company called Peek... Aren't You Curious. What I loved about Peek was it wasn't typical kids clothes. The girl's clothing wasn't too grown up and the boy's clothing was fun and they had a large selection. Yes, the clothing is at a higher price point but the quality is worth it. If you have kids you know that they can be picky about things feel on their skin. Peek is dedicated to finding the best fabrics to make their clothing with. The more you wash their clothes.. the softer it gets! I always wish they would make adult sizes!

Every now and then they have a BIG 50% sale. When I found out they were having one I had to take a look. It was difficult limiting myself to purchasing just a few items for the "McBaby". I decided on three t-shirts (in different sizes), the plaid orange button down and 3 pairs of pants. I'm sure I'll be making a few more appearances in the store before the little guy is born. Peek is still currently having their 50% sale going on. Check it out! They have a few stores located in California, a location in Arizona and a location in Dallas. They also have an online store.

Trumpette Baby Socks

Yay!! These arrived on Friday! While I was browsing online I came across these cute Trumpette baby boy socks. One looked like a pair of sneakers and the other looked like a pair of Vans. I couldn't resist buying them for the "McBaby".

Global Soap Project

My friend posted a link about this on her Facebook page. We take things like soap for granted. There are countries where are people are dying from illnesses that are caused by not being able to wash their hands. Why are they unable to wash their hands? They don't have or they are unable to afford soap. There's 4.6 million hotel rooms in the United States. 2.6 million soap bars are discarded every day. Think of all that soap that is being wasted that could be sent to a country in need of it. Check out the Global Soap Project.

If I could afford to go anywhere right now...

I'd go to.....
South Africa - because I've always wanted to go

The Grand Canyon - cause I have still never been and I was born in Arizona

I have no idea where this is but I want to go!

The Smoky Mountains

This cloudy and cold weather is really putting a depressing mood on my summer. I wish I could snap myself out of it. Literally.. I wish someone could slap it out of me. Remember being a kid and looking forward to summer? My summers were filled with trips the beach, to the pool, road trips, mini vacations, etc. As much as I love going back east to visit family, it's not the same as a vacation. I went to Montana the summer of '09. We only went for a few days and it was heaven. There was lots of days spent out on the boat, cooking out and drinking Jim beam and coke in a can. Yes, Jim Beam and coke in a can.. can we say amazing? I have a long list of things that I need to do ASAP. Like finding a new apartment, buying furniture for the apartment, etc. My mom and her fiance are coming out in two weeks. I think their relaxing vacation will turn into "Move me into an apartment and lets find stuff for it ASAP!". I still need a vacation. I need to use that free round trip ticket I won from Jet Blue. I need to go somewhere and be able to relax for just a minute. I'm sure once October rolls around I will never be able to relax another day in my life. Too bad Jet Blue doesn't fly into Memphis, Nashville or Roanoke. I have friends and family I'd love to visit. Well there's always Austin. Anyone down for a trip to Austin?

Maternity Fashion Ideas

I've said it before and I'll say it again.. Just because you're pregnant or a mom doesn't mean you should have to sacrifice your style. Here are some "fashionable" ideas for your pregnancy. You don't even have to look in a maternity section!
I want these skirts soooooooooo bad. Especially "D"!! However, $78 bucks for a skirt isn't in my budget right now. A girl can still dream, right?
I love this dress. It's flowy and it's perfect to wear by itself or pair it up with a jacket. It looks great with a jean jacket or a bomber jacket. Just add sandals and flip-flops and voila! You got yourself a cute little outfit!

Party Food

When planning a party that will have food it's important to plan ahead. When I was planning Lauren's party, I already knew she wanted a BBQ. So hot dogs, burgers, veggie burgers, etc. had to be there. I spent the weeks before her party carefully planning and making lists. Thanks to my new interest in coupons (blame Extreme Couponing) it helped with the cost. Of course you can't just have burgers at a party. You need other foods to snack on. I know Lauren loves chips and salsa so we made sure that was there. You can't have chips and salsa without guacamole so I found a market that sold guac by the pound. I also decided to make my pasta salad. It's easy to make and it's the perfect addition to a BBQ. I wanted some "fun" additions. I knew Lauren wanted jello shots at her party. However, she's a vegetarian so you can't go into a regular grocery store and purchase gelatin free "jello" (aka vegan gelatin). Thankfully Whole Foods came to the rescue. Btw - Jell-o shots are so easy to make. I also found a recipe for Corona Popsicles. You can read more about that here. Below is the recipe for Jell-o shots.

Basic Jell-o Shot

3 oz. Jell-o (or vegan gelatin)
8 oz. boiling water
3 oz. cold water
5 oz. alcohol you'd like to use (I used vodka)

You want to bring 8 oz. of water to a boil. Add in the 3 oz. mixture. Make sure the mixture is completely dissolved before adding the 3oz. of cold water. Once you have done that add 5 oz of whatever alcohol you'd like to use. Stir. Pour into whatever you want to use and refrigerate. Voila!

Corona Popsicles

I've been planning my best friend's birthday for the past month or so. Around Cinco de Mayo I came across a Corona Popsicle recipe. I figured it would be perfect for the theme of the party. They are very easy to make. Instead of waiting a few hours for it to solidify and then putting in the Popsicle sticks. I found it was much easier to use Dixie cups as the mold, cover with a little bit of tin foil, puncture a hole in the middle and put the Popsicle stick in. I guess it depends on your freezer but I found it took roughly around 5-6 hours to solidify. I recommend making these the night before. I wasn't able to see how they tasted but everyone who had one enjoyed them. Success!

It's almost party time!

This Sunday is Lauren's birthday. As you all know I have been planning this party for weeks. I have been all over LA and Long Beach buying things. My lists have been to so many stores that they're starting to beg me to recycle them. Many people may think all this planning, folders, lists, etc. is a bit much for a birthday but I disagree. Birthdays are a BIG DEAL. When it comes to birthdays, parties, holidays, etc. I believe it's a "Go Big or Go Home" type deal. With proper planning you can always throw the perfect party! My weekend will be spent baking, cooking and tying up all the loose ends for Sunday. As long as Lauren's happy - I'm happy. I can't wait to share all the details and photos with everyone on Monday!
