Snapshots from Sunday

I find Sundays really enjoyable. I like waking up and making lists of what I need, what needs to get done, etc. Normally I'll hit up the local Farmer's Market for locally grown produce and on occasion stop at one of my favorite places for breakfast. In the midst of documenting my Sunday, I forgot to hit up the Farmer's Market. I blame Hurricane Irene - grr!

One of my many lists I made for the day.
My apartment is like Florida. It's constantly at 75-80 degrees. So when I'm cleaning/organizing I have to take several 30 minute breaks in front of the fan to cool down before starting another task.
Saturday I had the Internet installed. What does that mean? Mad Men marathons!
Getting ready for errands.
Reaching my feet is a struggle these days. Lauren was a sweetheart and tended to my swollen tootsies and made them look pretty.
Lauren streamed the VMA's while I was making dinner.

Inspiration: Wedding Dresses

Reminds me of Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face

Jackie's dress always stands out in my head when I think of wedding dresses.

One of my favorite photos of Grace Kelly in her wedding gown.

There's been a lot talk about weddings and wedding dresses lately. Between my mom, the buzz around Kate Moss's wedding in Vogue and that Kardashian. My mother is currently trying to get ideas for a second wedding dress that is also age appropriate for her. Since I'm the Maid of Honor I've been drug along on the adventure trying to help her out. I can't picture myself in a wedding dress and neither can my friends. I feel like I'm not cut out for such a duty. I can plan your wedding and reception, just don't ask me to help out with your dress. All the ivory, white, lace, satin, etc. is intimidating to me. I've been browsing the Internet trying to help find different but semi traditional dresses for her. Above are some dresses that I've come across that are semi different, semi traditional, & dresses that she would consider "too young" for her. I thought I'd share them on here :)

The search for the perfect diaper bag continues...

Timi & Leslie Charlie II
I'm not sure if this diaper bag is really me. I do like the name of it (for many reasons). Maybe if it came in black.
Petunia Pickle Bottom
I like the style of this but this is really small for a diaper bag.

Storksak "Olivia" Nylon Baby Bag
Again, I'm not sure how I really feel about this one. It's not as bad as some of the other baby bags.

Marc by Marc Jacobs
This one is on the affordable side. However, the nylon kind of scares me.
I do like that it comes in red & blue (Giants colors).

Gucci
I REALLY can't afford this bag but I see so many women all over LA with it. I know a few
people who swear by it. I really like the structure of the bag and how much room you have in it.

Storksak Jess Messenger Bag
I really like the look of this bag. It's still on the smaller side. I need something bigger.

I wish I wasn't so picky when it came to things because I'm starting to run out of time. Any suggestions for diaper bags? Any feedback on the ones I have listed?

Inspiration: Wedding Ideas

My mother's upcoming wedding has caused some interesting arguments. Doesn't this always between mothers and daughters when planning a wedding? Even though her wedding is two years away, we're trying to lay down some solid ideas. We have a feeling once the baby comes, most of the wedding planning will be put on hold. This may be my mother's second wedding but that doesn't mean it's any less special or should be half assed (excuse my language).

My mother is the traditional one who all of a sudden wants to get married in the same church she married my father in 30 years ago. I find this very strange especially since she hasn't gone to a Catholic church in YEARS (or church for that matter), uhh you already got married there and the church in general has statues which freaks me out. She likes things very simple, classy and did I mention the traditional part? She's one of those people who believes in naming your child Charles instead of Charlie. She enjoys getting her toes done and somehow now enjoys cooking for her fiance. I'm still in shock considering she rarely cooked when I was a kid.

I'm the very non-traditional one (obviously). I'm more of the outdoorsy type whose style is more rustic modern. I like boho prints, mason jars, outdoor adventures (hiking, camping, etc.) and turning almost everything into a DIY project. These are the things that my mom would call me a "hippie" (she's half joking) and laugh about it. These are also now the things that are starting to annoy her. Below are some ideas of things my mom likes.

Below are a few of my favorite wedding ideas:

Hopefully we'll reach a happy medium so her wedding doesn't feel so "stuffy".

(I'm currently MIA in life right now. So I put together a bunch of posts on Wednesday so I'm hoping these are posting at correct dates, times, etc.)

Baby Wish List

I decided to share a few things that I put on my baby registry. Being a first time mom, you never know if you're buying the "right" thing or if your baby will even like these things. I decided a while ago that cloth diapers were the way to go. Not only are they environmentally friendly but I also heard it becomes easier to potty train in the future. At first I thought about doing a diaper service but I'm trying be as frugal as possible when it comes to certain things. One of my friends directed me to the cottonbabies website where there's several cloth diapers you can choose from. You can even make a registry there (done & done). I opted for the BumGenius cloth diapers because I've heard several great reviews on them. The other great thing about them is that the diaper grows with your child. They have several rows of snaps that you can adjust to how small/big your baby is.

The other major "must have" baby item is a stroller. I desperately wanted the bugaboo. However, the bugaboo was a bit pricey. I had a hard time trying to justify putting that on my registry. I played around with the BOB double stroller before and liked how easy it was to push around. This summer I started taking notes on what strollers people brought on the beach with them. I noticed people who had a BOB stroller had less of a struggle getting the stroller on and off the beach. After taking notes and hearing people's reviews, I decided to choose the BOB.

I really wanted a baby carrier. I just had no idea which one I should get. I remember back in the days of babysitting how much of a life savor a baby carrier was. I thought about the baby bjorn but it's for smaller infants. The more blogs I read and the more reviews I read, I realized the Ergobaby carrier was the way to go. This is another item that grows with your child in a sense. You can buy an infant insert when they're small and you can use it up until they're about 45 pounds. Sounds good to me!
When I was researching baby products I came across this, The Bumbo Baby Sitter Seat. It's ideal for babies learning to sit up on their own.

When it came to baby bathtubs, I wasn't sure how I felt about them. Were they necessary? That was until I read about the puj tub. It's perfect for infants and it fits to almost any sink size. If you live in an apartment (like I do) you don't have a lot of storage space. The last thing I want is another bulky item taking up space. The puj tub is perfect because it lays flat to dry. You could hang it from the back of your bathroom door when you're done!

Last but not least is the car seat. I have gone and back forth on whether to get a car seat that's a convertible or get the infant and then have him graduate to a bigger car seat. The more people I talk to, the more I heard "get the infant car seat". Like many parents I had the typical concerns about safety, etc. After some research I decided to go with Safety 1st's onBoard 35 Air Infant Car Seat. This car seat has side impact protection. I also like how sleek and simple it looks.

Hair Inspiration: My version of the bun

After getting home fairly late (yes, 10pm is late for this one these days) and getting a horrible night's sleep, the last thing I wanted to do was wake up and do was my hair. However, when I woke up my hair wasn't in any shape to wear down. My make up was smeared from the previous night. What's a girl to do? I decided to work with it. I decided to throw on my 70s inspired boho strapless dress. My hair wasn't an easy fix but I had to think fast because I was running late. I pulled my hair in a ponytail and teased it just a tad and just started pinning it like I was doing a loose bun. Voila! It was the perfect carefree bun. To finish the look I put on my gold hoop earrings. In case you were wondering... I wound up doing my make up at work. Good thing I'm always the first one in the office!
